From Rorate Coeli:-

"Exactly 50 years ago, Pope Paul VI signed his last and most relevant encyclical letter, Humanæ Vitæ. Last, even though he would still have ten years of pontificate ahead, certainly because he was in shock over the worldwide rejection by many Catholics of what was merely the reaffirmation of the permanent doctrine of the Church since Apostolic times.... a Catholic cannot but be in awe of the protection given by the Holy Ghost to the Petrine Office: amidst a world dominated by the first and strong waves of the "sexual revolution", Peter stood alone and Peter stood strong. And not only did Paul VI reaffirm the historical and Apostolic Doctrine of the Church, he was also immensely prophetic. Did not the following passages of the encyclical foresee exactly what took place?

"A man who grows accustomed to the use of contraceptive methods may forget the reverence due to a woman, ... a mere instrument for the satisfaction of his own desires, no longer considering her as his partner whom he should surround with care and affection."

"Human beings—and especially the young, who are so exposed to temptation—need incentives to keep the moral law, and it is an evil thing to make it easy for them to break that law."

On this day, we thank the Father Almighty for his protection over the Doctrine of the Church in the revolutionary days of 1968. He is always Faithful, even when so much of the hierarchy of His Church is not. As Pope Benedict XVI said at the time of the 40th anniversary, 10 long years ago, "What was true yesterday is true also today. The truth expressed in Humanæ Vitæ does not change. "

Only 1 Place Left in the Guesthoouse for 2018 YCA Weekend at Douai Abbey! UPDATE GUESTHOUSE NOW SOLD OUT - A FEW PLACES IN THE COTTAGES ARE STILL LEFT

Please note there is only 1 place left in the Guesthouse, please book asap if you would like to bk the Guesthouse accommodation.

For a description of the Douai Guesthouse, please see below:-

"The Guesthouse at Douai Abbey offers guests.... fully ensuite rooms.

Guests normally eat in the Guest Refectory, although some guests may be asked to join the monastic community for meals. Outside meal times, a guest courtyard offers a pleasant area to read or meditate.

Some groups wish to take their meals in silence, while others benefit from being able to talk. Where the two types coincide, they are usually seated at separate tables and are asked to be mindful of each other’s needs.

The kitchen is modern and well-equipped.  Our small, dedicated staff produces food of high quality and can cater for a number of special dietary needs as listed on the booking form. Note that we cannot guarantee that all the ingredients supplied to us are prepared in a nut-free environment. Guests with very particular dietary needs are advised to bring their own food. If in doubt, the Guestmaster can advise you."

UPDATE AS OF 16/7/2018 - GUEST HOUSE SOLD OUT. FEW PLACES IN THE COTTAGES ARE STILL LEFT

Offensive and Threatening Messages Will not be Tolerated

It's come to my attention that a number of offensive messages have been posted in relation to the recent letter, about chastity and Humanae Vitae, published in the Catholic Herald, a couple of days ago.

Charitable debate is fine but offensive messages or threats will NOT BE TOLERATED on this blog, or any other YCA Facebook groups.
