Breaking News:- Pope Benedict States the Church is Capsizing - Support for Dubia Cardinals

From LifeSiteNews:-

July 15, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) – "Pope Benedict XVI sent a sobering message at the funeral of Cardinal Joachim Meisner today, saying he was moved at the dubia cardinal's ability to "live out of a deep conviction that the Lord does not abandon His Church, even when the boat has taken on so much water as to be on the verge of capsizing."

The Church "stands in particularly pressing need of convincing shepherds who can resist the dictatorship of the spirit of the age and who live and think the faith with determination," Pope Benedict said in a message read by Archbishop Georg Gänswein, his personal secretary and head of the papal household. Because of this "pressing need," Meisner "found it difficult to leave his post."
"What moved me all the more was that, in this last period of his life, he learned to let go and to live out of a deep conviction that the Lord does not abandon His Church, even when the boat has taken on so much water as to be on the verge of capsizing," the pope emeritus concluded.

Meisner, who was 83, was one of the four cardinals who sent Pope Francis a dubia asking if Amoris Laetitia is aligned with Catholic morality. He died still awaiting the pope's response. Although Pope Francis hasn't answered the dubia, he has given his approval to interpretations of the controversial exhortation that say those living in adulterous unions may receive Holy Communion.

In June 2017, Pope Benedict met new cardinals alongside Pope Francis. He had a brief message for them: "The Lord wins in the end."

Meisner died holding his breviary, about to offer Mass."

Raymond Arroyo, from The World Over (EWTN) states:-

Canon lawyer Kurt Martens said:-

The Bishop of Lancaster has personally translated the message at:-

Great News! Another New Parish for ICKSP!

Bishop Michael Campbell and Monsignor Gilles Wach, Prior General of the ICKSP

"Lancaster Diocese has issued a press release which states that the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest are to assume care of English Martyrs’ Church, Preston.
Bishop Michael Campbell and Monsignor Gilles Wach, Prior General of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, together with Rector, Canon Adrian Towers, have agreed that, as from the autumn, the Institute will assume the administration of the historic and landmark (Grade II Listed) Catholic Church of St Thomas of Canterbury & the English Martyrs on Garstang Road, Preston.

Bishop Campbell upon making this announcement commented: “We are very grateful for the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest and the dedication they have to evangelizing through use of the extraordinary form,” Bishop Campbell continued “The Institute has shown tremendous energy in conveying a sense of the sacred through their proven ministry at St Walburge’s and around the world. We are especially encouraged that their care and ministry in large and historic churches may also be instrumental in preserving English Martyrs church now and going forward.”

Canon Amaury Montjean for the Institute added: “We are deeply grateful to Bishop Campbell for his gracious invitation. Our entire Institute family is very glad for this new apostolate at English Martyrs. Like St Walburge’s, it will be a unique spiritual home offering Masses with sacred music, daily confessions, days of recollection, classes in spirituality and doctrine etc”.

Bishop Campbell concluded: “Finally and importantly, the announcement of this initiative will ensure the future sustainability and patrimony of English Martyrs’ church; a building so dear to local Catholics and many others in Preston. Thankfully, this announcement means English Martyrs is saved from the prospect of closure and is thus secured for the future. The fact that the church will be used each day for prayer and cared for by the Institute means it will continue

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A parishioner told me that there are presently 3 priests at The Dome of Home in New Brighton and there is some exchange and co-operation between the two Shrine churches.

The ICRSP ordained 6 new priests last week. They have their general chapter in late August so any new appointments will be confirmed then.

Last week they had their ordinations in Florence - priests, deacons and minor orders - and the 3 UK 1st year seminarians received The Cassock with one being from St. Walburge's.

English Martyrs will continue to have an OF parish mass for the time being.
There are a lot more pictures and information on Bishop Campbell's blog here."

100th Anniversary of Fatima Apparitions – 13 July 1917: HELL IS REAL

From wdtprs:-

"Today is the 100th anniversary of Our Lady’s appearance at Fatima to the three seers on 13 July.
What happened?

The father of Jacinta and Francisco said that when the 13 July apparition began, a small grayish cloud hovered over the holm oak tree, the sunlight diminished, and a cool breeze came up even though it was summer. He heard something like flies inside a jug. The seers saw a glare of light. and then saw Mary over the tree.
The dialogue of Mary and Lucia went:
Lucia: What does Your Grace wish of me?
Our Lady: I want you to come here on the thirteenth of next month and to continue to pray the Rosary every day in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary, in order to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war, for she alone can be of any avail.
Lucia: I would like to ask you to tell us who you are and to perform a miracle so everyone will believe that Your Grace appears to us.
Our Lady: Continue to come here every month. In October, I will tell you who I am and what I wish, and I will perform a miracle that everyone shall see so as to believe.
Lucia then made a number of requests for conversions, cures, and other graces. Our Lady recommended the constant recitation of the rosary; thus they would obtain those graces during the year.
Then she went on: “Sacrifice yourselves for sinners and say many times, especially when you make a sacrifice, ‘O Jesus, this is for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.’
This is the apparition in which Mary showed the children a vision of Hell:
Lucia wrote:
“Our Lady showed us a great sea of fire which seemed to be under the earth. Plunged in this fire were demons and souls in human form, like transparent burning embers, all blackened or burnished bronze, floating about in the conflagration, now raised into the air by the flames that issued from within themselves together with great clouds of smoke, now falling back on every side like sparks in a huge fire, without weight or equilibrium, and amid shrieks and groans of pain and despair, which horrified us and made us tremble with fear. The demons could be distinguished by their terrifying and repulsive likeness to frightful and unknown animals, all black and transparent. This vision lasted but an instant. How can we ever be grateful enough to our kind heavenly Mother, who had already prepared us by promising, in the first Apparition, to take us to heaven. Otherwise, I think we would have died of fear and terror.”
After that Mary said to them, according to Lucia:
“You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The war is going to end: but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the Pontificate of Pius XI. [WWII] When you see a night illumined by an unknown light, [In January 1938 there was a massive Aurora Borealis] know that this is the great sign given you by God that He is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father. To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of reparation on the First Saturdays. [1st Saturday Devotion!] If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred; the Holy Father will have much to suffer; various nations will be annihilated. In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she shall be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world. In Portugal, the dogma of the faith will always be preserved, etc. …”
Consider your sins committed and sins of omission.
Consider the state of the Church and nation.
Consider what YOUR role is according to your state of life.
Consider making some changes in your prayer life and works of mercy.

GO TO CONFESSION!"

Douai Abbey Guesthouse Accomodation - What to Expect for the Young Catholic Adults Douai Weekend 2017

 One of the Guesthouse Rooms

Guests normally eat in the Guest Refectory, although some guests may be asked to join the monastic community for meals. There is also a separate guest courtyard where meals may be taken in the warmer months, weather permitting. Outside meal times, the courtyard is a pleasant area to read or meditate.

While a number of groups wish to take their meals in silence, others benefit from being able to talk. Where the two different types of group coincide, they are usually seated at separate tables and are asked to be mindful of each other’s needs. The community tries to ensure complete silence in the monastery, but there may be times when some noise is unavoidable.

The kitchen is modern and well-equipped. Our small, dedicated staff produces food of high quality and can cater for a number of special dietary needs as listed on the booking form. We cannot guarantee that the ingredients supplied to us were prepared in a nut-free environment. Guests with very particular dietary needs are advised to bring their own food. If in doubt, the Guestmaster can advise you.

With the exception only of the monks’ garden, our spacious grounds are available for our guests to enjoy (including the kitchen garden and sheep meadow), and there are several easy walks through fields and woods that can be made from the monastery.

Monastery Guesthouse

St Benedict did not envisage his monasteries as existing primarily for the purpose of receiving passing guests. In fact, he saw them as sanctuaries for those who wished permanently to put aside the distractions of the world and seek Christ alone. Yet St Benedict recognised the attraction monasteries held for those still in the world, and resigned himself with goodwill to making provision for guests, since “monasteries are never without them”. (Rule of St Benedict, 53:16)

History has proved him right. By their very nature monasteries played a vital role in providing safe and comfortable shelter in times when travel was time-consuming, arduous and often dangerous. The weary pilgrim, far from home, would instinctively look for shelter in the house of God. Today, life itself has become a wearying pilgrimage for many. For them a monastery offers respite from the fast-paced, stressful and often unbalanced lives they lead. Others seek to join the monks in the space they make for God to be worshipped and experienced, a space much harder now to find in the world.

The Guesthouse at Douai Abbey offers several different types of room. There are fifteen fully-ensuite rooms, four of which have been fitted to accommodate disabled guests to modern standards. All rooms can take single guests, but some can also be shared. Another seven rooms semi-ensuite (shower and sink only).

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI receives New Cardinals along with Pope Francis.

From Lifesite News VATICAN, June 29, 2017:-

"The pope emeritus received the new cardinals along with Pope Francis. Pope Benedict removed his white zucchetto (papal skullcap) when Pope Francis entered. These sorts of appearances in front of media cameras are rare for the retired pope."

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI had a brief message for the Church's five new cardinals: "The Lord wins in the end."

Summorum Pontificum Celebration Video - Ten Years On

A little lighthearted celebration of the Motu Proprio "Summorum Pontificum" - ten years on (by Fr. Tim Finigan):-

Reminiscences on the release of Summorum Pontificum by Fr Tim Finigan

Excellent commentary on the anniversary of  Summorum Pontificum can be found at Fr. Tim Finigan's blog:- http://the-hermeneutic-of-continuity.blogspot.co.uk/

"The Catholic blogosphere had started to take off as a vehicle of commentary and discussion, untrammelled by official censorship. I joined up in April 2006. One of the subjects of discussion throughout 2006 and the early part of 2007 was the rumour of a "universal indult" for the celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass. The rumour mill became entertainingly farcical as it became clearer that Pope Benedict was indeed going to do something.

One or two fellow bloggers had managed to get an advance copy of the document a few days before. (One incurred universal opprobrium by breaking the generally-agreed voluntary embargo.) I did not have a copy but did have a friend in Rome who had one on his desk and phoned me up. He knew that I regularly celebrated the traditional Mass - I even had the short-lived "Celebret", a rescript from Ecclesia Dei giving me permission to do so fairly freely. My friend was not a devotee of the traditional Mass, but not particularly opposed to it either. He said, from his position of neutrality "It is incredible. It gives you everything you lot have been asking for, and more." Indeed it did. Hence the mood of celebration then and now.

That "more" was that the Pope did not give a "universal indult" or wider permission to celebrate the traditional Mass. He said that no permission was necessary. One of the crucial provisions of Pope Benedict was to settle once and for all a long-running argument over the legality of the traditional Mass. In his letter accompanying Summorum Pontificum, he wrote
As for the use of the 1962 Missal as a Forma extraordinaria of the liturgy of the Mass, I would like to draw attention to the fact that this Missal was never juridically abrogated and, consequently, in principle, was always permitted.
This was res extraordinaria indeed. The Pope just affirmed the view held by the Remnant, Michael Davies and assorted others who had hitherto been considered extremists, that in fact the old Mass had never been abrogated. Moreover he made this the foundation of the document which gave a legal framework to the whole position.

He also set out a principle which is of immense value for liturgical discourse and again overturned what had become a consensus in many colleges, seminaries and institutes.
What earlier generations held as sacred, remains sacred and great for us too, and it cannot be all of a sudden entirely forbidden or even considered harmful. It behooves all of us to preserve the riches which have developed in the Church’s faith and prayer, and to give them their proper place.
One hugely important factor in the months following Summorum Pontificum was the relentless critique by Fr Z of letters from chanceries all over the place attempting to impose conditions on the celebration of the old Mass that were simply ruled out by the document. That helped significantly in establishing the rights of the faithful to the Mass of Ages.

Well, that's enough from me, and I have to be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for our Parish Summer Fair tomorrow. If you are ever minded to come down to Margate for one of these lovely summer weekends, we have the traditional Latin Mass every Sunday, sung, at 11.30am at St Austin and St Gregory. For which we thank Pope Benedict.

For further commentary on the anniversary, here is a small selection of articles from some of my favourite sources:
And finally, if you want a taste of what the mood was that evening: I was at a party thrown by a fellow priest in South London at which they big-screened this video I had hurriedly put together."
